American Soccer Weekend Preview

MLS is Back!

The 2023 Major League Soccer season kicks off this weekend with a full slate of games. All 29 teams will be in action including the newest MLS expansion team, St. Louis City FC.

The biggest match of the weekend will be on Saturday night when defending MLS Cup champions FC Cincinnati host the Seattle Sounders. Both teams are expected to be among the contenders for the title this season.

US Open Cup Quarterfinals

The US Open Cup quarterfinals will also be played this weekend. The eight remaining teams will compete for a spot in the semifinals. The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals on July 11-12.

1. FC Cincinnati vs. New England Revolution
2. Orlando City FC vs. Philadelphia Union
3. New York Red Bulls vs. FC Dallas
4. St. Louis City FC vs. Sacramento Republic FC

Other Notable Matches

In other notable matches this weekend, the LA Galaxy will host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night. The Galaxy are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 season, while the Whitecaps are hoping to make a playoff run this year.

On Sunday, the New England Revolution will host Atlanta United FC. The Revolution are one of the favorites to win the MLS Cup this season, while Atlanta United FC is looking to rebound from a down year in 2022.

All MLS matches will be streamed live on Apple TV+. The US Open Cup quarterfinals will be streamed live on ESPN+.
