Verstappen Survives Norris Onslaught for Victory
Dutch Driver Dominates Race, Secures Seventh Win of 2024 Season
WEB Red Bulls Max Verstappen has won the Imola Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. Verstappen dominated most of the race, but a late charge from Lando Norris brought the McLaren driver within striking distance. In the end, however, Verstappen was able to hold on to win by just 0.725 seconds.
The win is Verstappens second of the season and extends his lead in the drivers standings to 25 points. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished second, while Norris rounded out the podium in third.
The race was marred by a number of incidents, including a first-lap collision between George Russell and Fernando Alonso that resulted in both drivers retiring. A red flag was also brought out on Lap 33 when Carlos Sainz Jr. crashed his Ferrari into the wall.
Despite the incidents, Verstappen was able to keep his cool and drive a flawless race. The win is a testament to his talent and his ability to perform under pressure.
