Matt Ryan Retires from NFL After 15 Seasons

Legendary Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Ends Career

Ryan Led Falcons to Super Bowl LI, Won MVP Award in 2016

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 15 seasons in the league. The 37-year-old signal-caller spent 14 of those seasons with the Falcons, becoming the franchise's all-time leading passer in both passing yards and touchdowns.

Ryan's retirement comes after a decorated career that includes four Pro Bowl selections and the NFL MVP award in 2016. He also led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI, where they ultimately lost to the New England Patriots in overtime.

In addition to his individual accolades, Ryan also holds several NFL records. He led the league in completions twice (2019, 2020), attempts once (2020), and completion percentage once (2012). He also ranks among the NFL's all-time leaders in several other statistical categories, including passing touchdowns (seventh) and passing yards (ninth).

Ryan's retirement leaves a void in the Falcons' lineup and in the NFL at large. He was one of the most respected and accomplished quarterbacks in the league, and his leadership and playmaking ability will be missed.

Thank you for everything, Matt Ryan!
