Cowboys Keeping An Open Door For Ezekiel Elliott Reunion

Cowboys Keeping an Open Door for Ezekiel Elliott Reunion

Reconciliation Rumors Soar after Pre-Draft Meeting

Cowboys May Draft Running Back Today

The Dallas Cowboys have made headlines by leaving the running back position unaddressed through the first three rounds of the 2024 NFL draft. This unexpected move has fueled speculation of a possible reunion with former star running back Ezekiel Elliott. According to the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys met with Elliott and his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, on Wednesday to discuss a potential return. Sources close to the situation anticipate that the Cowboys and Elliott will come to an agreement. While the Cowboys could potentially select their future running back in the second or third round of the draft today, the meeting with Elliott suggests that the team may believe he remains their best option at the position. During the 2023 season with the Patriots, Elliott played in all 17 games, rushing for 642 yards and three touchdowns on 184 attempts. He also caught 51 passes for 313 yards. However, Elliott has not surpassed 1,000 rushing yards since 2021, a decline from his league-leading performance in 2016 and 2018. With the Cowboys, Elliott earned three Pro Bowl nods, rushed for 8,262 yards, and remained a key component of their offensive attack. The potential reunion with Elliott would be a significant move for the Cowboys, as they look to recapture their championship form.
